Secretary School Said Skill-Based Education Vital for Societal Development

Dr. Obaidullah Khokhar, Secretary of School Education South Punjab, emphasized the pivotal role of skill-based education in empowering the region’s youth for societal progress.

Speaking at the National Conference on Life Skills-Based Education Roadmap and Advocacy Strategy for Out-of-School Children hosted by the Pakistan Institute of Education, Dr. Khokhar outlined plans to impart essential life skills to students through training programs.

The Life Skills-Based Education Program aims to equip government school students across South Punjab, enabling them to become valuable contributors to society, he highlighted.

The conference convened education secretaries from Pakistan’s provinces, including Gilgit-Baltistan, and South Punjab, alongside national and international experts, facilitated by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

Dr. Khokhar pointed out prevalent challenges faced by the younger generation, citing inequality, unemployment, inadequate educational and healthcare resources, early marriages, and maternity issues as primary causes for school dropouts. He emphasized the importance of not only acquiring modern sciences but also applying these skills effectively in life and society to achieve success.
