HEC extends registration deadline for apprenticeship till January 3, 2024
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has extended the registration deadline till January 3, 2024, for the Centralized Test catering to Computer Science and IT graduates aspiring for apprenticeships in top Pakistani IT firms. The test date remains unchanged on January 7, 2024, as stated in a recent press release. Students in the 7th semester of Computer Science/IT programs from recognized universities and colleges are urged to register via the Virtual University (VU) link https://www.vu.edu.pk/GraduateTest/
The decision to extend the deadline arose during a virtual meeting of Vice Chancellors/Rectors and Heads of Computer Science/IT Departments across public and private higher education institutions. HEC Chairman emphasized the importance of student participation, urging universities to ensure registration and nominate focal persons for seamless communication.
This initiative aims to equip IT graduates with skills relevant to the dynamic industry. It’s designed to identify academic gaps and offer specialized modules, apprenticeships, or boot camps aligning with industry needs. HEC collaborates with stakeholders to bridge the academia-industry gap and enhance the market readiness of IT students.
Successful candidates in the test gain placement in prominent IT companies via P@SHA for real-world project experience. They may also receive credit hour exemptions in the 8th semester. Spring 2024 marks the inaugural session for this industry placement program, paving the way for potential job offers through PSEB and P@SHA portals.
