Sindh’s Education Suffers in 2023
“Challenges in Sindh Education System for 2023”
“Amidst a turbulent year for Sindh’s education, 2023 unfolded a series of setbacks, revealing a troubling trend of inconsistent governance across universities and education boards.
Merit-based appointments took a backseat as political influences marred educational institutions’ integrity. Despite substantial investments and international aid pledges, the system struggled with delayed textbook distribution, raising doubts about the government’s commitment.
The frequent turnover in leadership at institutions like the Sindh Textbook Board and key educational boards signified a lack of stability. Manipulation of matriculation and intermediate results added to concerns, casting doubt on the credibility of the school system.
Administratively, several institutions faced staffing challenges, with crucial positions like finance directors and vice-chancellors remaining vacant. The caretaker government’s continuity in policies rather than implementing reforms compounded issues.
Neglected issues persisted, evident in the caretaker government’s postponed meetings with vice-chancellors and the ongoing absence of permanent leadership in key universities. Shikarpur University and Law University lack permanent vice-chancellors, while crucial appointments across Sindh’s universities remain pending, contributing to an atmosphere of uncertainty and disarray within the education system.”
