KP Universities Promise 2% Minority Quota Compliance

“KP Universities Collaborate for Minority Education Quota Implementation

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in partnership with Blue Veins NGO and NCHR, organized a Provincial Consultative Workshop involving 23 public sector universities. The focus was on effectively implementing the 2% education quota for minorities in Higher Education.

Attended by university dignitaries, government representatives, and civil society, the event marked a significant step toward inclusive education. The consultation emphasized the notification of the 2% admission quota for religious minorities in 27 public universities in 2021. Additionally, quotas at the Intermediate and Associate Degree Program/BS Program levels were approved in 2022 by the Directorate of Higher Education.

The Directorate of Higher Education has introduced an Information Management System to ensure compliance and transparency. University representatives expressed their commitment and stressed the importance of a central reporting mechanism to monitor progress and address compliance issues annually.
