“Turkish Support Renews Schools for Veraval Turk Community in Karachi”

Karachi witnessed the official unveiling of revamped primary and secondary schools belonging to the Veraval Turk Community, a project spearheaded by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA). The ceremony saw the presence of notable figures including Sindh Province’s Caretaker Minister of Education Rana Hussain, Consul General of Turkey in Karachi Cemal Sangu, TİKA’s Karachi Programme Coordinator Halil İbrahim Başaran, and esteemed guests.

During the inauguration, Minister Rana Hussain lauded the attractive and interactive classrooms, emphasizing their positive impact on student development. She extended gratitude to TİKA and Turkey for their valuable support.

Consul General Cemal Sangu emphasized Turkey’s ongoing commitment to education, highlighting the active presence of 28 Pak Turk Maarif Schools in Pakistan. He expressed delight in inaugurating the two schools renovated for the Veraval Turk Community by TİKA.

TİKA’s Karachi Programme Coordinator, Halil İbrahim Başaran, highlighted the agency’s extensive work in Sindh and Balochistan Provinces, including the Veraval Turk Community schools, and pledged continued collaboration with the Sindh Education Ministry.

Hussain Ghulam, Secretary General of Veraval Turk Community, expressed gratitude for the support received, mentioning the schools’ increased capacity and amenities like computer labs, science labs, libraries, and solar energy installations, benefiting 450 students currently and accommodating an additional 450 in morning and evening shifts.

The renovated schools, now equipped with additional floors, refurbished buildings, modern amenities, and solar energy systems, were officially opened by Minister Rana Hussain and Consul General Cemal Sangu, allowing nearly 500 students to resume their education.

TİKA, through its offices in Pakistan, has been consistently contributing to Pakistan’s education development since 2010, marking a testament to the strong friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
