Punjab’s Chief Minister has been asked to postpone matriculation exams
The All Pakistan Private Schools Association (APPSA) has reached out to Punjab’s Caretaker Chief Minister and the Secretary of Higher Education, proposing a one-month delay for the impending matriculation exams.
Mian Shabir Ahmad Hashmi, the APPSA Central President, conveyed concerns about the adverse impact of smog and the prolonged winter holidays on students’ academic progress in his letter. He emphasized the significant study time lost during the extended break, urging authorities to consider postponing the matric exams.
Highlighting the incomplete syllabus caused by the extended winter break, Hashmi alerted Mohsin Naqvi and the Secretary of Higher Education about the academic challenges faced by students. He advocated for a delayed exam schedule, providing ample time for students to cover the remaining syllabus and engage in thorough revision.
Hashmi proposed commencing the matriculation exams from April 15th, citing the need for students to catch up on missed studies due to extended holidays and upcoming elections, alluding to these as contributing factors justifying the requested adjustment.
APPSA’s plea encompasses various examinations, including PAF, PEMA, and Matric, urging pertinent officials to announce a one-month postponement. Notably, the matric exams are originally slated to commence across Punjab on March 1.
