Education Minister Emphasizes Poverty Alleviation Through Education
Caretaker Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Madad Ali Sindhi, emphasized the pivotal role of education in lifting Pakistan out of poverty during the 20th Annual Convocation-2023 of SZABIST University – Karachi Campus. Sindhi, addressing as the chief guest at the Expo Center, highlighted the significance of focusing on education and skill development for the nation’s progress.
Underlining the necessity of an educated and skilled workforce for societal growth, Sindhi stressed the importance of training teachers in public sector schools, considering that a significant portion of the population receives education through this system. He urged political parties to prioritize educational development over the next five years to fortify the country’s educational landscape.
Reflecting on SZABIST’s inception in 1995 by the late Prime Minister Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, Sindhi praised its evolution into a prestigious educational institution. He commended SZABIST’s contributions to the education sector and advocated for the establishment of more such educational institutes.
At the convocation, both Madad Ali Sindhi and SZABIST University President Madam Shahnaz Wazir Ali inaugurated the event, conferring degrees upon 1,750 students, including 21 Ph.D. recipients. Acknowledging academic excellence, 33 Gold Medals and 26 Silver Medals were granted, while 520 students made it to the “Chancellor’s Honor List” for achieving a CGPA of 3.50 or higher.
The ceremony witnessed a significant turnout, encompassing SZABIST University’s Board of Governors, faculty, staff, graduates, parents, educationists, and dignitaries, marking a celebration of educational accomplishments and aspirations.
