Last Date of Admission
The applicant is required to complete the online application process by submitting the application form along with scanned copies of academic certificates. The deadline for submission is set until January 31, 2024, and the submission window will close precisely at 11:59 p.m. on that date. All required documents must be uploaded within this timeframe to ensure that the application is considered complete and eligible for review.

Eligibility criteria
The criteria determining eligibility for a specific field or discipline, in alignment with the department’s policies, will be communicated by the pertinent Board of Studies or DDPC of the Department/Institute/College/Centre/School prior to the admission process.
For MS/M.Phil/ M.Sc. (Engg/Hons.)/ MBA / M.Com/ Equivalent
I. A Bachelor of Science (Hons.) 4 years, M.A., M.Sc., B.Sc (Hons.) 4 years, or B.Sc. (Engg) degree, or its equivalent in the relevant subject from a university recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) is a prerequisite. The attainment of at least 16 years of education following completion of HSSC/F.A./F.Sc/Grade 12 or its equivalent (equivalent to 120 credit hours) is mandatory, in accordance with HEC and PU regulations.
II. A consistent academic record with no third division throughout the academic career is essential.
III. Attaining a minimum of 50% marks in the admission test conducted by the University is a requirement.
IV. Successful candidates must achieve a minimum of 50% marks in the interview as part of the admission process.
For PhD Programs
PHD Program Category A
I.
An MS/M.Phil./M.Sc. (Engg/Hons.) degree or its equivalent, with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 (out of 4.00) in the semester system or a first division (60%) in the annual system, is required, in accordance with HEC and PU regulations.
II.
A third division is not permissible throughout the entire academic career.
III.
Candidates without a thesis in MS/MPhil or its equivalent are eligible to apply; however, they must fulfill a deficiency of 06 credit hours in research thesis.
IV.
The University of the Punjab will conduct the admission test as follows:
i) Part A: GRE/HAT general type – it is mandatory to score 60% marks.
ii) Part B: Relevant subject-based test.

V.
Qualifying marks for the interview are set at 50%.
PHD Program Category B
I.
An MS/M.Phil./M.Sc. (Engg/Hons.) or an equivalent degree with a CGPA below 3.00 (out of 4.0) in the semester system or a first division (60%) in the annual system is required, by HEC and PU regulations.
II.
No third division is permitted throughout the entire academic career.
III.
The interview requires a minimum of 50% qualifying marks.
IV.
The University of the Punjab will conduct the admission test as follows:
i) Part A: GRE/HAT general type – scoring 60% marks is mandatory.
ii) Part B: Relevant subject-based test.

V.
The qualifying marks for the interview are set at 50%.
VI.
In the zero semester, applicants must complete additional courses of 9-12 CH at level 7 and achieve a minimum GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00. Failure to meet both conditions will result in the cancellation of admission.
VII.
Candidates without a thesis in MS/MPhil or its equivalent are eligible to apply, but they must fulfill a deficiency of 06 credit hours in a research thesis.
Eligibility for candidates from other disciplines
I. The eligibility criteria for a particular field or discipline, in alignment with the department’s policy, will be furnished by the pertinent Board of Studies or DDPC of the respective Department, Institute, College, Centre, or School before the admission.
II.
The stipulations listed below supplement the requirements previously outlined for admission to MS/M.Phil/M.Sc. (Engg/Hons.)/MBA/M.Com/Equivalent and PhD, as stated or referenced above.
For MS/M.Phil/ M.Sc. (Engg/Hons.)/ MBA / M.Com/ Equivalent
I.
A minimum score of 50% on the GRE-Subject Test (administered by the university in the relevant discipline) is required.
II.
Completion of 6-9 credit hours in deficiency courses at level 6 is necessary after commencing the program in the zero semester.
For PhD
I.
A minimum of 60% marks on the GRE-Subject Test (administered by the university in the discipline of admission) is mandatory.
II.
Completion of 6-9 credit hours in deficiency courses at level 7 is required after initiating the program in the zero semester.
Other Requirements:
- CGPA on a scale other than 4.00 will be converted accordingly for MS/M.Phil/PhD or equivalent admissions.
- A merit formula table, available at www.pu.edu.pk/dpcc, outlines the allocation of 40 marks for academic qualifications to be added to the overall merit.
- Obtain the admission regulations for MS/M.Phil./M.Sc. (Engg./Hons)/equivalent/Ph.D. from the respective Department/Institute/Centre/College/School. For additional information, please contact the relevant academic unit.
- The processing and examination fee of Rs.2000/- should be deposited in the bank through the online Bank challan form generated during application submission. After fee submission to the bank (HBL, UBL, or Mobile banking through 1Bill), enter the details in the application. Generate the final application for online submission.
- Applications received (online) after the specified date and time will not be considered under any circumstances.
- Equivalence from PU is mandatory. Qualifications from institutions other than the University of the Punjab will be equalized by the Equivalence Committee of the University of the Punjab. Candidates must apply for equivalence promptly to the Equivalence Cell, PU, and provide the same before the interview.
- Equivalence of degrees awarded by chartered foreign universities will be required from HEC Pakistan, and PU equivalence is also mandatory.
- Candidates currently employed must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer on the date of the interview; failure to submit will result in exclusion from the merit list.
- Foreign candidates should apply through their home country’s embassy or consulate and Pakistan’s mission abroad (in the case of Overseas Pakistanis). NOC and equivalence of degrees from HEC are necessary.
