HEC Introduces German Scholarships for Female Afghan Refugees in Pakistan
Millions of Afghan refugees, seeking shelter from the war in their homeland, reside in Pakistan. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has recently unveiled a significant initiative aimed at providing enhanced opportunities for these displaced individuals. Specifically, HEC has announced German scholarships for female Afghan refugees in Pakistan, in collaboration with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for the academic year 2024.
The two-year Master’s scholarships are designed to enable female Afghan refugees to pursue their studies at HEC-recognized universities in Pakistan. This endeavor, supported by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, encompasses scholarships across various disciplines, with the overarching goal of fostering academic and scientific progress by creating avenues for higher education.
Eligibility for the scholarships is extended to female Afghan refugees currently residing in Pakistan and holding valid proof of registration (POR) cards issued by the Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON). Interested candidates can apply online through the HEC’s website.
To qualify, applicants must have completed their undergraduate degrees, equivalent to 16 years of education, from an HEC-recognized university, attaining a minimum CGPA of 2.5. Furthermore, applicants must be enrolled in the first semester of a two-year Master’s program. It’s important to note that individuals awaiting their results are not eligible to apply for these scholarships.
