Lahore Education Authority has implemented a monthly stipend for Morphydite students

Individuals categorized as intersex or Morphodite, often mistakenly referred to as transgender, attending Government Girls High School Garden Town, are set to receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 10,000 as per the Lahore Education Authority’s recent announcement. Out of this amount, Rs. 5,000 will be designated as a monthly stipend while an additional Rs. 5,000 will be allocated as a conveyance allowance. However, eligibility for the monthly stipend requires maintaining an 80% attendance.

It’s noteworthy that classes at the Garden Town school have been held exclusively on the first three days of the week since last year. Additionally, only those Morphodite students who sustain an 80% attendance rate will qualify for this financial assistance.

Inaugurated in December last year by the former Education Minister Murad Raas, this school marks the first dedicated institution for the Morphodite community. Notably, similar schools were previously established in other districts of Punjab, including Multan, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan.
