HEC Performs Well in National Athletics Championship
The National Athletics Championship in Attock witnessed a stellar display by the Men and Women athletes from the Higher Education Commission (HEC), earning them the esteemed third position, as recognized by the HEC itself.
The former international athlete and Director General of Sports at the University of Peshawar (UoP) expressed his admiration for Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem of UoP for his unwavering support towards the athletes. He highlighted the special acknowledgment received by the VC through a congratulatory letter, acknowledging the exceptional performances of the HEC teams.
Bahre Karam, serving as the Coordinator and Manager of the HEC Team Athletics Championship, emphasized the players’ relentless dedication that led to securing the third position.
The results revealed the HEC women’s team securing third place in the competition, trailing behind WAPDA and Army. Their remarkable tally included four gold, 10 silver, and 06 bronze medals, accumulating an impressive total of 271 points.
On the other hand, the HEC Men’s team clinched two gold, two silver, and 06 bronze medals, amassing a commendable 162 points. Bahre Karam acknowledged the pivotal roles played by Chairman HEC Dr. Mukhtar and Director/In-Charge Javed Ali Memon, attributing the team’s success to their involvement and dedication.
He announced forthcoming initiatives from HEC, including scholarships, incentives, and cash prizes for the medal-winning athletes in their respective categories, underscoring HEC’s commitment to support and reward their achievements.
