CJP Pakistan Likely Attending AIOU Executive Council

In Islamabad, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa, following his participation in meetings at Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) and International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), is now scheduled to attend an executive council meeting at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), the country’s largest distance learning institution.

Simultaneously, interim Education Minister Madad Ali Sindhi expressed concern over the delayed establishment of QAU’s sub-campus in Punjab. Originally intended for Sharqpur, Sheikhupura, the delay prompted the minister to inquire into the matter, seeking a report on the delay by January 4.

QAU, a federal charter university enrolling students from all provinces, AJK, and Gilgit-Baltistan, had proposed the sub-campus in Sheikhupura, which was approved by the QAU syndicate. However, delays hampered its progress despite the foundation stone being laid earlier this year by then-Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, a board member of several federal charter universities, sent a letter through his secretary dated December 26 to AIOU. The letter requested information ahead of the upcoming executive council meeting, seeking details regarding the university’s regulations, recent meetings, budget, audit reports, student enrollment figures, and major decisions during the acting VC’s tenure.

The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training also released a statement highlighting Minister Madad Ali Sindhi’s actions. He addressed the delay in QAU’s sub-campus, emphasizing the impact of such delays on the academic journey of the country’s youth. He urged immediate resolution of pending issues, directing HEC and QAU to coordinate with the Punjab government for swift construction.

Minister Sindhi, during a surprise visit to QAU’s Islamabad campus, expressed disappointment over the hostel conditions, acknowledging students’ concerns about inadequate academic facilities. He stressed the importance of addressing these internal issues before inviting foreign students for exchange programs, emphasizing the need for immediate attention to such problems.
