In Islamabad today, President Dr. Arif Alvi emphasized the crucial collaboration between mosques and educational initiatives to reach approximately 28 million out-of-school children across the nation.
During a meeting focused on the mosques’ role in advancing education, the President highlighted the potential for mosques to contribute significantly to improving literacy nationwide. Attendees included the caretaker minister for Religious Affairs, education ministers from Sindh and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, provincial education secretaries, and representatives from Auqaf and Religious Affairs departments.
The meeting centered on briefing the President about the Accelerated Learning Program, which aims to enroll over 70,000 out-of-school children in Islamabad’s educational institutions. This program seeks to provide five years’ worth of education within 24 to 30 months, effectively reintegrating these children into the educational system.
Furthermore, the meeting underscored the program’s relevance in benefiting older children who missed out on formal education opportunities.
