Evolution of COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI)
Established in 1998, COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) inaugurated its first campus in April of the same year. Recognizing its accomplishments, the Federal Government conferred upon CUI the status of a Degree Awarding Institute (DAI) in August 2000 through the issuance of its charter. Currently, CUI operates six fully functional campuses at Lahore, Abbottabad, Wah, Attock, Sahiwal, and Vehari, with additional campuses in various planning stages. Following the Federal Government’s recommendation, efforts are underway to establish an overseas campus in the Gulf region.
In a significant development, CUI is set to be elevated to the status of ‘COMSATS University’ through an Act of Parliament.

Fee Structure

TIMES Higher Education (THE) Rankings:
In the Young University Rankings 2023 by Times Higher Education (THE), COMSATS University Islamabad secured a position in the range of 151-200. Additionally, in THE World Universities Rankings 2023, CUI was included among the top 601-800 universities globally. Moreover, it achieved rankings of #301-400 in Engineering & Technology, #301-400 in Business and Economics, #301-400 in Computer Science, #501-600 in Life Science, and #401-500 in Physical Sciences for 2023.
Furthermore, COMSATS University Islamabad earned a spot in the Emerging Economies Rankings 2022, landing in the range of 251-300. In THE Asian University Rankings 2022, it was positioned in the range of 201-500.
QS Rankings:
QS Asia University Rankings 2023 positioned CUI at 142nd, securing the 5th spot in Pakistan. In the QS World Universities Rankings 2023, it earned a place among the top 1001-1200 universities worldwide. For the QS Asian Universities Rankings 2022, CUI ranked 137th.
Additionally, CUI was positioned in the range of 301-360 in QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2023. Furthermore, in the QS Asian University Rankings 2023 for Southern Asia, CUI attained the 18th position.
HEC Ranking:
In 2015, CUI secured the 3rd position in the General Category and was ranked 6th among all universities in Pakistan. Additionally, it achieved the 2nd position in Research Productivity nationwide. Furthermore, in 2012, CUI attained the top position in the Computer Science and IT Category.

Facilities/Services Of Comsats University
The library strives to facilitate academic endeavors by delivering accurate information to the appropriate individuals at the right moment, catering to the needs of CUI’s students, faculty, and staff.
A limited number of seats are available based on the “sharing room” and “first-come, first-served” criteria. The hostels are conveniently located near the campus. A separate girls’ hostel is situated just a 5-minute walk from the campus. The charges for hostel accommodation are Rs.41,000 per semester (non-refundable), with a hostel security fee of Rs.2,000 (refundable).
The hostels provide a highly secure and caring environment overseen by a designated faculty member serving as the Hostel Warden. Interested students can apply for hostel accommodation at the time of admission and are required to deposit the hostel fee at Askari Bank Limited Wah Cantt or through online transfer.
Free internet facilities are available for all hostel boarders, and the premises are equipped with security cameras and a 24-hour on-duty security guard.
Engaging in sports holds a prominent and exhilarating role at CUI, Wah. These sporting pursuits serve as a means to alleviate the challenging academic demands. The Sports In Charge organizes competitions to channel the boundless energies of students, offering opportunities for sports enthusiasts to express their interests and partake in events such as sports week.
The CUI Wah campus is equipped with various sports facilities, including:

The Campus has inaugurated a Medical Centre to offer emergency medical assistance to both students and employees. A dedicated female doctor and an experienced dispenser are on-site full-time at the Medical Centre, which is furnished with all essential facilities. Additionally, two ambulances are accessible for emergencies.
A transportation service for students is provided with pick-up and drop-off options available for those residing in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Attock along specified routes. The transport fee is Rs.35,000.00 per semester and once paid, it is non-refundable. Students can apply for the transport facility immediately after admission and make the payment either in person at Askari Bank Limited Wah Cantt or through online transfer—both methods are acceptable.

For the year 2024, the Education University has shifted to a fully online admission process. Interested applicants must meticulously fill out and submit their applications using the university’s online portal. This digital method simplifies the admission process, providing convenience and accessibility to candidates from diverse locations. The online application system guarantees a more effective and user-friendly experience, enabling applicants to submit their information, academic records, and supporting documents effortlessly.
