KP Private Education Network Opposes Winter Break Extension

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s caretaker government’s decision to extend the winter break for schools was met with rejection from the province’s Private Education Network (PEN). President Muhammad Saleem Khan criticized the decision, emphasizing its detachment from practical realities.

Khan warned that the extension could jeopardize students’ futures, highlighting the challenge of covering the syllabus within the academic year. He pointed out that after the gazette vacation, matriculation and intermediate students have limited time for their syllabus.

Additionally, Khan questioned the rationale behind conducting exams earlier than usual and extending holidays, citing teachers’ involvement in elections. He stressed that applying holidays to the private sector, unaffected by the election process, was unjustified.

Moreover, he proposed starting schools at 9 am to mitigate the impact of harsh weather conditions on students.
