Laptop Distribution Ceremony in Women’s University Swabi
In Swabi, a ceremony took place on Wednesday to distribute laptops among students as part of the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme. The event, held at Women’s University Swabi, aimed to encourage quality education among students, as highlighted by Muhsin Ali Razq, a representative from the Higher Education Commission (HEC). He emphasized the HEC’s commitment to aiding students in enhancing their performance across various fields.
The ceremony saw the presence of Dr. Abdul Waheed, head of the computer science department, Registrar Waqar Ahmad, Director of Academics Dr. Sania, and students from different disciplines.
In the realm of education, approximately 400 girl students in the mountainous region of Gadoon Amazai attend boys’ schools due to a shortage of schools for girls in the area. Fazal Mulla, district president of the Peoples Action Group for Education, revealed this information during a meeting, stating that despite conducting a survey, over 400 female students are compelled to study in boys’ schools due to the scarcity of dedicated educational institutions for girls. He expressed concern that 80% of girls in the area never enroll in public sector schools due to this lack.
Regarding law enforcement, the police thwarted an attempt to smuggle a significant quantity of drugs to Punjab and apprehended two individuals. DPO Haroon Rashid Khan confirmed the seizure of over 10 kilograms of hashish from the suspects’ car, leading to the arrest of Samiullah Khan and Mir Zaman, both residents of Charsadda.
Additionally, an arrest was made in connection with a murder case involving a man and his minor daughter, and police resolved a five-year-old blind murder case of a young boy, apprehending the alleged perpetrator, Sohrab Khan.
