Rs3.065b Released for Punjab Govt Schools’ Education

The Punjab SED Allocates Rs3.065 billion to Government Schools Amid Protests New SOP Restricts Budget Audits, Empowers District Committees The Punjab School Education Department (SED) disbursed Rs3.065 billion to support 48,500 government schools, addressing operational needs and pending bills after prolonged protests. A revised Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) now bars certain education officers from conducting budget audits.

Instead, specially nominated district committees will oversee spending, needing unanimous school council approval. The released non-salary budget can now cover security and sanitation staff salaries and furniture purchases. Rawalpindi gets Rs11.71 million for 1,828 schools, while Attock, Chakwal, and Jehlum receive Rs5.989M, Rs6.263M, and Rs4.461M, respectively.
