Rumors of an extended winter vacation are spreading
The Literacy & Non-Formal Education Department in Punjab follows a unique winter break schedule. They’ve announced winter vacations for all Non-Formal Education Institutions in Punjab, set from Jan 1, 2024, to Jan 10, 2024.
Schools in Punjab began their annual winter break on December 18, 2023, slated to end on January 1, 2024. However, discussions about extending this break due to worsening winter conditions are gaining momentum, although no official confirmation has been released.
Social media is rife with speculations about this potential extension, fueled by individuals sharing notifications allegedly from the Literacy Department. This dissemination of information has contributed to widespread confusion.
Sources within the SED Punjab suggest that any decision to extend the break rests with the Punjab government, not the SED Punjab itself. An anonymous official mentioned that if the government approves an extension, the Schools Department will issue an official notification.
Dr. Khurram Shahzad, Director General of the Directorate General of Literacy & Non-Formal Basic Education, emphasized the department’s adherence to its winter schedule. He clarified that, unlike the Schools Department, their winter break starts from January 1, 2024.
