Teachers’ Role Is Essential To Students’ Education And Training, PU VC

Professor Dr. Khalid Mahmood, the Vice Chancellor of Punjab University, underscored the pivotal role of educators in shaping the educational journey of students. His remarks echoed during the closure of the 11th International Conference on Research in Education (ICORE-23), themed ‘Restructuring of Teacher Education for the Next Generation of Teachers,’ hosted by the Punjab University Institute of Education and Research (IER) at Waheed Shaheed Hall.

A gathering graced by luminaries such as Director General Abid Sherwani from the University of Management and Technology, Professor Dr. Tariq Mehmood Chaudhry of the Institute of Education and Research, Professor Dr. Muhammad Shahid Farooq leading the Department of Advanced Studies in Education, and esteemed columnist Professor Naeem Masood, alongside former directors, researchers, academics, faculty members, and a multitude of students marked this significant ceremony.

Dr. Khalid Mahmood emphasized the imperative for teachers to evolve their teaching methodologies by leveraging modern technology. He accentuated that in today’s global village, students lacking familiarity with contemporary technologies and theories risk lagging in the developmental race. He highlighted the active role of Punjab University in training both teachers and staff, recognizing the pivotal role technology plays in education.

Commending the IER for orchestrating the conference, Dr. Mahmood emphasized the perpetuity of the learning process stemming from such collaborative gatherings.

Abid Sherwani echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the transformative power of contemporary teaching methodologies in shaping societies. He advocated for increased investment in education and research, offering support for Punjab University’s teacher training initiatives.

Expressing gratitude, Dr. Tariq Mehmood Chaudhry highlighted the urgency for educators to acquaint themselves with modern teaching techniques, emphasizing the conference’s potential to serve this purpose. He lauded the quality of research papers presented, acknowledging their potential impact on policymaking and advocating for measures to incorporate social entrepreneurship training for teachers.

Dr. Rafaqat Ali Akbar stressed the necessity for further research in teacher education, emphasizing that a proficient teacher is fundamental to nurturing adept students. He reiterated that teaching encapsulates a blend of skills and abilities acquired through dedicated training.

Professor Naeem Masood reiterated the significance of teacher training, characterizing education as the soul of humanity. He extended a warm welcome to the continuation of the conference, noting the impressive 157 research papers presented by researchers during the event.
