The Higher Education Commission (HEC) National Digital Library program provides researchers within public and private universities in Pakistan access to international scholarly literature. The University of Education benefits from the HEC Digital Library’s extensive resources, including associations such as the American Association of Physics Teachers, Association of Computing Machinery, Ebrary, Emerald, McGraw-Hill’s Access Science, McGraw-Hill’s Access Engineering, SpringerLink, Taylor & Francis Journals, Wiley-Blackwell Journals, Free Medical Journals, and the Pakistan Education & Research Network (PERN).
Pakistan Education & Research Network (PERN)
The University of Education has been leveraging the Pakistan Education & Research Network (PERN) since 2007. As the national research and education network of Pakistan, PERN provides essential communication infrastructure to universities, higher learning institutions, and research organizations. Offering services such as high-speed internet, audio/video conferencing, and access to digital library resources, PERN has evolved significantly. The University of Education has experienced increased internet bandwidth from 4 MB in 2007 to 56 MB in 2018.
Video Conferencing Room
HEC has facilitated interactive communication between the University of Education and other universities through video conferencing using PERN2 services. Established in 2008 at the Township Campus in Lahore, the video conferencing room enhances collaboration and communication within the academic community.
Scholarship of EU
The University extends merit scholarships to outstanding students, with an allocated budget of Rs. 22.0 million for this purpose. First-year students will be awarded merit scholarships based on their academic excellence during the admission process. Subsequent years’ scholarships will be determined by the results of the previous year’s internal assessments and the University’s comprehensive examinations, where applicable.
Note:
Students passing examinations in parts in the 2nd or subsequent years are not eligible for merit scholarships.
Need-Based Scholarships
The University also offers need-based scholarships to financially disadvantaged students, amounting to 10% of the total students in each program. Eligibility is based on a declared monthly income of Rs. 15,000 or less from all resources for parents or guardians. Conditions for passing exams in the first attempt without re-sit exams do not apply to need-based scholarships. If applications exceed the 10% limit per program, preference will be given to students with the lowest parent/guardian income. In cases where multiple students share the same income and marks, preference will be given to rural over urban students and female students over male students.
Other Scholarships:
Punjab Education Endowment Fund (PEEF): Funded by the Government of Punjab, these scholarships are awarded to students with Punjab domicile who have secured at least 60% marks or a minimum CGPA of 2.5 in relevant disciplines.
Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) Merit Scholarships: Offered to students who have passed the Intermediate examination with a minimum of 60% marks in the current year, these scholarships follow the policy of the Education Department, Government of Punjab.
Pak Canada Debt Swap Project (PCDSP): Scholarships under this project are based on merit, considering the percentage of marks obtained in BA/BSc or equivalent. In cases of equal marks, preference is given to female students over male students and rural students over urban students. The scholarships are available to all public sector elementary-level teachers, regardless of morning or evening classes, and are proportionately distributed among colleges.
